Senator-Richard-Black-Hanne-Herland-Report-Interview His impressive track record covers a career as a military officer and colonel, a pilot with US Marines in Vietnam, then going through law school, working as a prosecutor with the US Army, and retiring from the military and the Pentagon in 1994.

From then on, he embarked on a political career, and became a well-respected US Senator with remarkable knowledge and understanding of the world.

We spent several hours with the honorable Senator, who most graciously took of his time to elaborate on a variety of subjects. The outcome of these conversations will appear at The Herland Report news site and TV channel on YouTube.

The interview addresses how our current system has changed towards endless wars, neo-con foreign policy leading to the Arab Spring, Syria and Libya war. The question is: How can we return to international justice, and what do we mean by such a term?

Senator Black states: “There was this very dark, sinister cabal of individuals who began to emerge with Herbert Walker Bush. The Republican Party had been the party of peace up until that time. It was the Democrat who took us to war – the First World War, Second World War, the Korean War, Vietnam War – and then all of a sudden Herbert W. Bush, who had been head of the Central Intelligence Agency, which is not much difference of being head of the KGB, same type of thing, he flipped it.”

Senator Richard Black speaks about the Deep State military complex: “Bush said, we now have this tree legged stool where one of the legs of Conservatism is basically war. His son, George Bush, carried it on. The Democrats had always been a war organization, except during Vietnam where some of their base rose up, because they were threatened with the draft. Other than that, they have always been the force of war.”

“So, now you have the Democrats who favor war, and the Republicans who favor war. There is no peace party any longer and this is a great tragedy.

“I had a military career and I fought very fierce battles in Vietnam. I was wounded, my radio men were killed right beside me.”

“As a pilot, my plane came back with bullet holes through the fuselage at different times, but I began to realize the tremendous disconnect between the people who fight, who are gallant, who are magnificent people, and the people who send them to war.”

“The people who send them to war are playing a game of global chess. They have no interest in the American soldiers, and marines, and the other services, they have no interest in the welfare of America, and I am talking as an American.”

“Their interest is in power, wealth, and how they can fit into this global enterprise which promotes war throughout the world and it does it through very deceptive means.”

Senator Black says: “They control the media. The media is very much like a pyramid. It starts with the Associated Press and goes all the way down. Many media sources cannot have reporters are the world so they look to the associated press. So that becomes truth.”

Richard Black about The Herland Report:

“I am very grateful for what The Herland Report does, for its global reach and ability to speak the truth, because we seldom hear the truth from the global, mainstream media. So much of what they publish, particularly in the area of foreign affairs, there is so little reality, so little of genuine substance. It is organizations like Herland Report that give some hope that the people might be informed and eventually towards a situation of peace.”

The interview was first published February 23, 2020.
