Make America Healthy Again: Vani Hari, a food blogger and former Democrat who is now an influential voice in the Make America Healthy Again (MAHA) movement, offers her perspective on the developments within the administration. MAHA’s primary focus is on encouraging individuals to reduce their consumption of processed food. One strategy to achieve this objective is to regulate the chemicals utilized by companies in the food industry.
“In the case of food dyes, companies will have to act because states are banning them [anyway] and they won’t want to have to formulate separate products for separate states,” says Prof Nestle, an author and longtime critic of the industry.
Kennedy is currently revising the US national dietary guidelines, a pivotal document that guides decisions ranging from school meals to assistance programs for the elderly. A reduction in added sugars and a switch to more locally sourced whole foods is expected. He has also called on states to prohibit millions of Americans from using food stamps, a welfare benefit, to purchase junk food or sugar-sweetened beverages, informs the BBC.
