Herland Report: The sermon delivered at the wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, by the 27th Presiding Bishop and Primate of the Episcopal Church, Michael Bruce Curry, must be one of the best speeches ever:
After opening remarks by the Dean of Windsor, David Conner, and before the marriage vows, officiated by the Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby, the assembled guests – plus many millions watching on television around the world – heard a sermon delivered by American preacher Michael Curry. “Love is as strong as death, feared as the grave, it is a raging flame, many waters cannot quench love. The late Dr. Martin Luther King once said, and I quote: We must discover the power of love, the redemptive power of love, not only in its romantic form, but any shape and form of love. And when we do that, we will make of this old world a new world, love is the only way. Don’t underestimate it, over sentimentalize it, the power of love.”
“The reason for the power of love is its source. The source of love is God himself. God is love. The New Testament: Let us love one another, because love is of God. Those who do not love, do not love for God is love. There is power in love, when nothing else can. Power to lift u and liberate when nothing else will.”
“Jesus of Nazareth was once asked by a lawyer to sum up the teachings of Moses. He said: “You shall love your God with all your heart, and love your neighbor. All the law and the prophets rest upon this message. And, – love yourself.”

“I am talking about real power. Power to change the world. Some old slaves in the American South explained the power of love, even in the midst of their captivity: There is a balm in Gilead to heal the wounds, if you cannot preach like Peter or you cannot pray like Paul, you just tell the love of Jesus, how he died to save us all.”
“Jesus sacrificed his life for the good of others, that’s what love it. It is not self centered, it can be sacrificial. That sacrificial, redemptive love changes lives. Imagine a world in which love is the way, imagine our homes and families when love is the way. Imagine communities where love is the way, governments, business and commerce when love is the way, imagine this tired world when love is the way, unselfish, redemptive love is the way – then no child will go to bed hungry ever egain.”
“When love is the way justice will , poverty will become history, this world will be a sanctuary, we will lay down our swords and shields down by the riverside and study war no war. There will be more than enough room for all of God’s children. When love is the way, we will treat each other like we are – actually family. And we are all brothers and sister, children of God. That’s a new heaven, a new earth, a new world, a new human family.”
