TV interview: Dr. Brenda Caldwell Dr.B talks about Drug Epidemic and its remedy

Brenda Caldwell Dr.B about Drug Epidemic: Herland Report TV host, Hanne Herland speaks to Dr. Brenda Caldwell, Dr.B about the Drug Epidemic, pain and suffering in America, and the way out.

Dr. Brenda Caldwell, “Dr. B” is a psychologist, an acclaimed empowerment speaker who travels the nation, an acclaimed artist and author with books such as “From Charcoal to Diamond” and “Surgery for the Soul”.

27 million Americans are now on illicit drugs. 7 out of 10 Americans use prescription drugs.

Dr. Brenda Caldwell says: “We lost our values in the West. We are facing a massive opiate epidemic in America. It is out of control and it is a big business, you know. Some are preying on the pain of hurting, wounded souls, because that’s who sustains the drug market.”

“What is the root reason? Every problem has a root. Drugs are not the root, they are symptomatic of a greater problem.”

“America has become so complicated. We’ve gotten away from just the simple values of loving God, loving family, treating people the way we want to be treated.”

To put that into perspective: The estimated cost of weather and climate disasters was about $150 billion per year for 2016 to 2018. Non-medical opioid use refers to both prescription misuse and illicit use.

Dr. Brenda Caldwell, “Dr.B” says: “We have teenagers that are literally getting so addicted to narcotics that many are dropping out of school with no aspiration. Their minds are gone, they don’t have the ability to even think about their dreams anymore. Drugs have altered them and they’ve become addicted.”

“What is a drug? What does it do? It is a temporary fix to a much greater problem of pain.

I am not talking about people who become addicted because they used it as prescription for an ailment or an arm, but people who turned to drugs, cocaine, because they are hurting.

So, what drugs does is that it gives a temporary escape from the pain that is in the soul.”

“People don’t understand that until you deal with the pain that is in the heart. The drugs only compound it.

That’s where we are. We are in an epidemic because people do not know how to deal with pain and suffering.”

“They don’t have someone to help them. Or they are not truthful enough to complain and say “I am still dealing with hurt because I was raped, molested and have recurring memories of that.

In order to cope with that, deal with it, I have got to escape – use drugs, alcohol, a temporary fix.”

Brenda Caldwell Dr.B about Drug Epidemic: “When something is unhealed in our heart, an unmet need, it opens use up to try to escape. If for example you need love, your father was never there. In our country we have a major issue of fatherlessness.”

“That can open the door for a teenager starting to tamper with drugs because they feel abandoned, rejected, unwanted. When you lose a sense of purpose, you don’t feel that you belong. Everybody has a need to belong.”

“We lost our values. The church has lost its place as a priority in people’s lives. We have so much competing for our attention, technology, competition.”

“We have lost the gateway to happiness, the values that are simple, that help us to stay rooted and grounded and happy. Because if you are truly happy and at peace, then there is no empty space, no holes in the in the heart or soul for you to have to medicate, or self-medicate.”
