Dr. Ben Carson: American democracy, innovation, boldness, hard work, freedom of expression, faith in God made it the greatest nation in modern times

America’s extraordinary success is rooted in faith, unity, and the bold spirit of its people. The nation’s identity as the land of freedom and opportunity is unique and must be preserved.

Disagreements and diversity of opinion signal a healthy democracy, not division or enmity. Learning from history’s positives and negatives strengthens national resolve. Faith, courage, and active work—rather than fear or passivity—are necessary for America’s continued prosperity.

Dr. Ben Carson: At the Rededicate 250 event, celebrating America’s 250 years since its founding, Dr. Ben Carson pointed out that: “250 years ago, America was born in a declaration of independence that began with the revolution revolutionary acknowledgement that our rights come from God and not from government. And it ended with an appeal to divine providence for protection. The Lord heard that call and there has been no nation since that time that has been so blessed.”

“The same God that answered the founding fathers appeal for divine providence, guided our nation through untold adversity, and continues to guide her today. He helped us serve our nation by loving our neighbours, not cancelling our neighbours if we disagree with them. By being good husbands, wives, fathers, mothers, citizens, friends.”

He emphasized the nation’s unique foundation, its achievements, and the core values that have sustained its greatness. His speech  calls for unity and faith as essential components for continuing America’s legacy. He delivers a compelling challenge to Americans to renew their commitment to the foundational principles that have made the country exceptional. The belief that human rights come from God — not government is a vital backbone of American philosophy.

Dr. Ben Carson highlights that America’s birth was grounded in the recognition that rights come from God, not from government, referencing the Declaration of Independence’s appeal to divine providence. This was the founding of a unique nation defined by liberty, freedom of expression, rewarding hard work and innovation, and a firm belief in democracy.

America is described as “the only nation defined by a dream,” a dream of freedom and opportunity, the ideal that anyone, regardless of background, can achieve success through hard work.

Dr. Ben Carson contrasts this vision with other countries, emphasizing that the possibility of achieving extraordinary success—such as his own life journey from humble beginnings to a renowned neurosurgeon and public servant—can only happen in America.

As he recounts America’s remarkable achievements over 250 years, he speaks about the victory over the world’s most powerful empire during the revolutionary war, the drafting of the Constitution, advances in prosperity, science, and technology, overcoming social ills like slavery, segregation, poverty, and disease and pioneering space exploration and technological innovation. He points to the civil rights era, which brought triumph over slavery and segregation.

“Remember our improbable rebellion against the most powerful military force on earth or the forging of our Constitution. Look at our prosperity, our technological our triumphs over slavery, totalitarianism, segregation, hunger and

Today, the United States is marked by a strong sense of innovation, hard work, strong resillience and global leadership.

Dr. Carson asserts that America’s greatness stems not from policies or systems, but from its people’s humility, faith, ingenuity, compassion, and determination. He praises the American willingness to serve others and overcome adversity, with continued guidance from God: “We do all that by loving the Lord our God with all of our heart, all of our mind, all of our spirit, and loving our neighbors as ourselves. There forces that are trying to get us to think that we’re enemies based on race, age, income, gender, religion, political affiliation. But, that doesn’t make us enemies. Just because we have a disagreement, it tells you that your brain is alive. Because if two people agree about everything, one of them isn’t necessary. So, I think we can do better.”

Dr. Ben Carson emphasizes the necessity of loving God wholeheartedly and loving neighbors as oneself as the foundation for personal and national conduct. He stresses courage and boldness as traits responsible for America’s innovation and leadership, challenging Americans to be “not afraid”, confident in God’s power, love, and common sense. People, faith, and courage will overcome divisiveness and sustain America’s greatness.

He urges Americans to honor and emulate national heroes: “it’s important that we honor and celebrate our nation’s heroes. It’s even more important that we emulate them. The lesson of the last 250 years is that in America, we don’t wait for miracles. We get to work and let God work them through us.”

“And we must be courageous because you cannot be the land of the free if you’re not the home of the brave. “
