We are living through a strategic geopolitical-economic shift, emphasizing the United States’ evolving role in global energy security. The U.S. now moves to replace British City of London financial globalist dominance with a new global order anchored in hard power and national sovereignty. If it succeeds, this challenges decades of entrenched economic paradigms.
The traditional global security order centered on NATO and globalist free trade City of London is collapsing. The U.S. is now attempting to assert direct physical and financial control over key global energy infrastructure, and Europe does not want to participate.
The Iran War Financial Story: The emerging new economic paradigm is based on sovereign nation-state collaboration, particularly between the U.S. and China, rooted in shared industrial-economic traditions. This transition reflects a fundamental shift from speculative globalist financial dominance and globalist free trade toward tangible industrial and energy power.
It leaves the green energy and soft power Europe in a limbo. The decline of the post-WWII transatlantic alliance is now exemplified by NATO and G7 decision not to help secure the Strait of Hormuz in the current Iran conflict.
As President Trump recently criticized NATO for failing a critical test by not coming to help secure the Strait of Hormuz, he implied that the U.S. may no longer feel obligated to defend its European allies due to their inadequate support. Trump stated that in the context of global conflicts like the current war on European soil between Ukraine and Russia, the United States quickly came to Europe’s aid. When America asked for help to safely escort ships through the Strait of Hormuz, which also secures the delivery of energy to the European continent, the Europeans refused. Europe does not want to contribute to the security of the world’s most critical energy choke point when in crisis, but will only come when peace is achieved.
This marks the funeral of the transatlantic order, with NATO and the City of London’s financial dominance regarded as obsolete. The city of London’s Pretorian Guard is finished as strategic partners, says Barbara Boyd, writer, paralegal and head of the Promethean Action who has tracked the imperial great game for decades.
Boyd’s point is that the Iran conflict is not only a regional Middle Eastern crisis, but a financial war and a systematic dismantling of the British imperial financial system, especially City of London’s control over global insurance and commodity markets.
The City of London’s financial hegemony has been dominating the West for decades. London’s historical dominance in maritime insurance and financial risk control has now been replaced by the loyal U.S. Development Finance Corporation (DFC) working with U.S. Central Command. U.S. government agency is now underwriting maritime trade insurance in the Gulf, replacing Lloyd’s of London. This shift undermines City of London’s 300-year-old control over global maritime trade insurance, signalling a structural economic transition of massive dimensions.
Mark that the U.S. is self-sufficient with approximately 12 million oil barrels in daily production, so is Russia with 11 million barrels a day. Whoever controls the Strait of Hormuz, controls the choke hold of energy supplies from the Arab States and Iran to India, China and the whole South East Asia. China alone imports approximately 11 million barrels a day, of which 60 % comes from Saudi Arabia, Oman, Iran and UAE through the Strait of Hormuz.

The Iran War Financial Story: The growing U.S. control over global energy security has direct links to the Venezuela situation where most of its oil went to China. And before that, the Panama Canal controversy in that the canal was basically controlled by China in America’s back yard. The ongoing conflict in Iran is but the next step in the same direction, as most of Iran’s energy supplies also fuels China. Trump also mulls Cuba is next.
The U.S. has shifted from negotiation to attrition against Iran’s nuclear and missile programs. Boyd says: “For two decades, Washington tried every combination of sanctions and diplomacy to stop the Islamic Republic’s nuclear advance. Iran moved from zero enrichment to 60%, enough for multiple nuclear weapons. Its missile stockpile grew and spread to proxies from Lebanon to Iraq to Yemen. They lied about possessing missiles with a 4,000 km range. We know that because they have shot them off in this war. The old approach failed totally. Trump’s answer was different. He demanded roll back, an end to enrichment, limits on the missile program, the dismantling of the proxy network.”

The Iran War Financial Story: The crisis over the direct control over the Strait of Hormuz, the critical chokepoint responsible for approximately 20% of the world’s seaborne oil trade, is yet another stepping-stone for the U.S. to weaken its adversaries. Approximately 84% of the crude oil that goes through the Strait of Hormuz goes to Asia, divided between China, India, Japan, South Korea.
This control is backed by the U.S. Navy as well as regional Gulf allies “who have watched Iran attack their ports, their infrastructure, and their tankers for a month and have drawn their own conclusions about who they want running security in their neighborhood,” Boyd points out. As Trump publicly declared NATO’s failure he also announced U.S. control over Strait of Hormuz. At a cabinet meeting he said: “I’m so disappointed in NATO because this was a test for NATO. You can help us. You don’t have to, but if you don’t do that, we’re going to remember. Just remember this in a number of months from now. Remember my statements. They have an expression, a great expression, which is never forget.”
“Never forget is not a complaint. It is a verdict and not just on NATO. That is a verdict on the entire system that has run the global economy for the last 40 years. The media says the Iran war has alienated Trump’s coalition, trashed his economic agenda, and handed our enemies a gift. They’re wrong. The Iran war is not mainly a Middle East story. It is a financial story—the systematic deliberate decapitation of the British imperial financial system,” says Boyd.
U.S. Development Finance Corporation is now replacing Lloyd’s of London as insurer for Gulf maritime trade.
The Iran War Financial Story: The United States secretary of the treasury, Scott Bessent recently described what the United States now is accomplishing: “We have taken actions to ensure oil supplies stranded at sea are made available to the global market. The Development Finance Corporation’s Maritime Reinsurance Program in conjunction with Central Command will soon provide shippers through the Gulf region with a level of security we have never seen before.”
“Lloyds of London, the 300-year-old institution at the heart of the City of London’s control of global maritime trade has been replaced. Not threatened, not competed with, replaced. The United States Development Finance Corporation will become the insurer of record for shipping through the Gulf. The British empire’s financial weapon, control of insurance, control of risk, control of who gets to trade and on what terms, control of prices, has been taken out of London’s hand,” says Boyd.
The Iran War Financial Story: Capital is flowing into physical American industries such as energy, mining, manufacturing, nuclear power, and defence, highlighting a shift from globalist financial speculation to tangible economic productivity. This is precisely what America First was all about, which implies domestic change as well as securing strategic interests internationally. You cannot achieve one without the other. T
This is what local American podcasters like Tucker Carlson cannot understand, in his inability to comprehend how the international world works. Due to his naiveté and incompetence in the global field and thereby reliance on third party sources, he is easily lured into serving the globalist mainstream agenda, and becomes the Democrat tool to divide the MAGA movement in the hope of crushing President Trump’s “America First” agenda.
Major financial advisory firm McKinsey acknowledges that commodity markets are undergoing a rebalancing driven by factors beyond pure market logic, indicating the end of London’s speculative pricing system. The OECD recently confirmed that the worst economic downgrade in the entire G20 went to the United Kingdom.
