How the American Superpower is Reinventing Itself and Crushing Globalism under Trump

The United States maintains 750 military bases worldwide, and under President Trump, the Pentagon budget was increased by 42%, the largest hike since World War II. Some commentators interpret these facts as signs that the U.S. is in a late stage of empire decline, much like Rome.

This massive Pentagon budget may not be a “forever wars” budget, but rather a much needed strategic investment in rebuilding American industrial strength and production capacity.

A considerable amount of financial resources, amounting to hundreds of billions of dollars, is now being allocated to a variety of sectors and initiatives.

How the American Superpower is Reinventing Itself: These include advanced manufacturing, research and development, shipbuilding, critical minerals, industrial lending, and the restoration of domestic supply chains. The fundamental question underlying the political discourse is: What are the elements that contribute to a nation’s strength and influence, Mike Steger at Promethean Action points out in this interesting analysis.

A superpower is defined by its self-sufficiency in production and innovation, capable of solving problems via its people’s ingenuity and a thriving industrial ecosystem, not just military might.

The bulk of the $1.5 trillion Pentagon budget is dissected as a tool to rebuild America’s industrial base and renew its manufacturing ecosystems, which is framed as a return to the historical American System—the foundation of U.S. economic strength. So, is the United States finally returning to the principles that contributed to its rise as a superpower?

“Trump – The Battle for America” cuts through the mainstream media rhetoric and brings ground-breaking understanding of the driving forces behind the current situation in the United States. “Hanne Nabintu Herland is a leading intellect of the Western world and one of the few remaining European intellectuals to stand up for truth. She is a defender of civilization and Christian morality and a stalwart opponent of the Satanic forces that are attacking our civilization.” Dr. Paul Craig Roberts, leading American political economist

How the American Superpower is Reinventing Itself: Steger points to the Roman empire, how empires collapse when they overextend is exemplified. Tacitus quoted a conquered British chieftain who stated, “To ravage, to slaughter, to steal, this they gave the false name of empire, and where they create a desert, they call it peace.” I Rome’s empire was criticized for creating desolation under the guise of peace.

Rome was, for one, marked by the pervasive reliance on slave labor, which gave rise to an attitude in which the sanctity of human life and the inherent value of the individual were greatly diminished. The class based society placed very different value on the lives of its citizens than that of its slaves. Individuals were dispossessed of their dignity and autonomy.

This was directly challenged by the early Christians, who fought to install the Christian principle of equality regardless of race, creed, status or gender.

How the American Superpower is Reinventing Itself: The collapse of U.S. manufacturing and the offshoring of high-tech industrial capabilities over decades of globalization was the poison that turned America into a dying power. Reclaiming the capacity to build advanced industrial goods and to invent new industries is identified as essential to securing the U.S. future as a superpower.

The Pentagon budget allocations and strategic impact shows that what is in the pipeline is 250 billion USD for for start-ups and new contractors, with an emphasis on expanding domestic production and supply chains, 280 billion for the Development of state-of-the-art technologies such as hypersonic, AI-integrated drones, and space capabilities, benefiting domestic industry through spill overs.

Furthermore, 220 billion is set aside for research and development, crucial for long-term economic superiority by converting military R&D into domestic production innovations and loans of $200B to advanced manufacturing firms, focusing on small and medium-sized companies.

65 billion is allocated to shipbuilding, the largest investment since 1962, rebuilding shipyard capacity, boosting skilled trades employment, and restoring maritime sovereignty.

The executive order from President Trump also places defense contractors like Lockheed, Raytheon (RTX), Boeing, Northrop Grumman, and General Dynamics under pressure to deliver performance tied to real industrial investment rather than shareholder profits.

Emphasis is placed on building new factories, integrated domestic supply chains, and reviving lost manufacturing capabilities.

The problem was that the U.S. exported entire manufacturing ecosystems overseas rather than just individual parts, which became a catastrophic loss of capabilities masked as “efficiency” by economists.

For example, the Ford River Rouge Plant serves as an example of an integrated industrial ecosystem, where raw materials were transformed into finished automobiles entirely onsite, demonstrating the power of scale and integration within national infrastructure. Infrastructure such as rail, communication, energy grids, waterways, and manufacturing industries across regions function together dynamically to unify the nation’s productive capabilities.

Pentagon budget increase is strategically repurposed to rebuild America’s industrial ecosystem, not just for weapons procurement. The revival of the Defense Production Act and creation of a national investment bank within the Pentagon represent systemic efforts to catalyze industrial growth.

The American Superpower is Reinventing: The recent increases in loans from the Office of Strategic Capital, revitalization of the Defense Production Act, has expanded shipyard investments, and revival of skilled trade employment are framed as replanting the industrial “orchard.”

The goal is to create new hubs of advanced manufacturing like Paterson but updated for the 21st century, integrating modern technology such as CNC machine tools, nuclear energy, and AI robotics into a cohesive national production system. This is not mere procurement of weapons but a broad reindustrialization effort with long-term economic and strategic implications.

The historic American economic system is central to the reindustrialization of the United States giant. one based on national credit, protective tariffs, federal manufacturing support, and leveraging citizens’ productive powers. This economic system was foundational in preserving the young nation post-Revolution through infrastructure, manufacturing, and innovation-enabled prosperity.

The success of this system is evidenced by the creation of manufacturing cities like Paterson and later industrial complexes that powered U.S. dominance in World War II. The cultural component — national will, creativity, and endurance — is critical to sustaining the industrial revival.
